Figure-Ground Relationship: This photo represents this principle because one can’t tell which color is the positive space or negative space. As one’s eye moves across the composition what color is perceived as the foreground changes
Asymmetrical Balance: This photo’s balance isn't even with the small rock out in the water and the huge rock on the sand. The right side of the composition appears heavier than left.
Cool Colors: This photo, of the blue gray water, dark wet sand, and the pale gray clouds, is made up of all cool colors. These colors are  “cool” based on their calming effect and placement on the color wheel.

Warm Colors: Orange is a very bright and a “comfortable” color; it’s a warm color.  There are a lot of orange and dark browns in this fall photo and it’s enough to give this a warm feel.

Chiaroscuro Lighting: This photo doesn't try to eliminate or reduce the amounts of shadows. The composition uses shadows to emphasize the right side of her face.
Perspective One-Point: The armrests are all the same size, but from this one perspective, due to the fact we don’t see two sides of the bench, they appear to get smaller as they are further back in the photo.

Apparent Movement: These are Christmas lights and they appear to be moving. This was taken from a moving car and the resulting effect is the blurred edges giving an interesting swinging motion.

Gestalt Continuation: The perspective of this photo and placement of these flowers tricks the mind into seeing a women’s face.  There isn't really a women’s face or even a person in this composition.
Code: If one hasn't had a smore before they would not know what the message of this picture is. They could possibly think of a dessert, but not make the connection that there is a campfire involved.

Sign Symbolic: This money symbol had to be taught to us. The same is for the euro sign. A person from a small town in Africa won’t know what this sign means and neither will a 3 year old American, unless they were told by their parents what it meant.
